Ask about the AC level
This has everything to do with durability and performance. Not all laminate flooring is the same, and each has different strength levels.
The AC (Abrasion Criteria) rating includes a series of tests to see how it will perform. As the numbers go up, so does the strength level. The best for residential use is AC-3 or AC-4.
Consider thickness
Laminate flooring comes in a range of thicknesses from 6 mm to 12 mm. Thicker is always better, especially in this instance. Buy the best your wallet will allow.
A more robust surface is more durable, will last longer, and is quieter. It also hides subfloor imperfections and offers more design options. That's because it's easier to carve on a thick surface than on a thin one.
Don't skimp on the underlayment
Underlayments do a lot more than increase comfort. They provide stability and act as a moisture barrier.
Whether waterproof laminate flooring or the original product, these floors are almost always installed via the floating floor technique. The pieces click, mat, and hover over the subfloor without nails or adhesives.
If the floor is glued or nailed to the subfloor, it won?t accommodate any of the expansion that naturally occurs with these floors.
